The story starts in England in 1984, where Dana Scully meets Fox Mulder for the first time. Over the next year their lives join in love and friendship then clash with the stark realities of dark emotions. To save each other from the painful truths, they part ways. The story resumes 8 years later when they meet again, this time as partners in the FBI. Book I follows their adventures in the X-Files as their relationship attempts to rebuild the love they once shared, never forgetting how painful the process can be. Each chapter parallels a classic X-Files episode but adds new perspective and possibilities based on the ever changing romance between Mulder and Scully. A few new creative whims and original plot devices also bring new life to familiar tales. Book I ends where the first season ended - with the closure of the X-Files, but something new is revealed that marked the closure as a new beginning.
